July

2 July - 16 July: London Literature Festival

3 July - 12 July: Ledbury Poetry Festival
The Ledbury Poetry Festival is the biggest poetry festival in the UK, with a programme that’s filled with an eclectic and exciting array of events, featuring poets and performers from all over the world

10 July - 19 July: Ways With Words Festival
Ways With Words is a vibrant and joyful 10-day festival at Dartington Hall, a chance for those who read books to meet those who write them.

10 July - 28 July: Buxton Festival
The Peak District hills host a friendly crowd of opera, music and literature lovers from all over the country.

12 July - 25 July: King’s Lynn Festival
The 59th King’s Lynn Festival features favourites from the classical music world, jazz, folk and top-name writers.

17 July - 19 July: Festival at the Edge
Festival at the Edge is a celebration of storytelling where you can experience tales from around the world that will make you laugh, cry and wonder.

23 July - 26 July: Theakstone’s Old Peculier Crime Writing Festival
Get ready for the crime wave of the year at this event from the Harrogate International Festivals

August

15 August - 31 August: Edinburgh International Book Festival
An energising and inspiring literary festival, right in the heart of Edinburgh: hundreds of author interviews, debates and workshops for all ages packed into 17 days each August.

1 August - 8 August: National Eisteddfod of Wales
A week full of events based on Welsh literature and prose are held in the Literary Tent, and the highlight of the week is the ‘Ymryson y Beirdd’ (Bards Competition), when teams of bards compete against each other.

September

11 - 12 September: How to Get Published: a Conference for Writers, Kingston University
If you feel there’s a book in you, this conference will answer your every question. The two days are led by Alison Baverstock (author, senior lecturer and contributor to writersandartists.co.uk), supported by industry experts and writers, including literary agent Carole Blake, Richard Charkin (Executive Director of Bloomsbury Publishing), and authors Chris Cleave, Mary Lawson, Justine Picardie and Michael Ridpath.

18 September - 27 September: Bath Festival of Children’s Literature

3 September - 13 September: Bristol Poetry Festival

25 September - 27 September: King’s Lynn Poetry Festival
Writers include Peter Porter, Moniza Alvi, Pascale Petit, Michael Hulse, Eli Tolaretxipi, Kit Wright and John Hartley Williams

12 September - 27 September: Rye Arts Festival

25 September - 4 October: Wigtown Book Festival
